Screen Rulers

measureit Screen RulersFor one reason or another I’m always measuring images and other screen real estate in web pages or elsewhere. This recently got a lot easier when I discovered the MeasureIt add-on for Firefox. (Which fits snugly next to ColorZilla, the equally useful in-browser color picker.)

The “elsewhere” part has remained difficult until recently when I stumbled across the Wonderweb Screen Ruler. I find that I will leave it open and on top of the screen for easier use when working with graphics in web apps.

The Filter

This was surprisingly hard to find, but exactly what I was looking for. The Filter is a music recommendation engine that generates playlists from a Bayesian network of one’s listening habits. Select a song, hit “create playlist”, and it assembles some damn good, personalized playlists. For example, selected Chibo Matto’s Lint of Love churns out songs from:

Someone has finally produced a decent front end to 7-Zip ! jZip is 7-Zip, but not irritating to use. Like 7-Zip, it should support all major (and many, many minor) archiving formats.
